Grant Strategy. Donor Infrastructure. Capital Access.
West Ward Capital is a New Jersey-based development consultancy. We manage the full grant lifecycle—from opportunity sourcing and narrative development to submission, compliance, and post-award fundraising strategy—helping organizations turn documented need into secured capital — across the Tri-State area and nationwide.
Co-Founder & Principal Strategist
James Rashad is a Newark-born journalist, strategist, and founder of West Ward Beans—a media house built on the belief that community storytelling and institutional accountability belong in the same room.
He spent years covering the organizations that serve Newark's most under-resourced communities. What he kept finding: the work was real, the need was documented, and the money was there—but the narrative wasn't. West Ward Capital exists to close that gap. James leads strategy, narrative development, and client positioning, translating an organization's mission into the language funders respond to.
Co-Founder & Chief Business Officer
Janel Frazier sees what most operators miss — and builds for it before anyone else knows it's needed. As Co-Founder and Principal of West Ward Capital, she owns the infrastructure: systems architecture, AI workflow design, compliance, and the operational logic that turns strategy into execution.
She has spent her career running complex, high-stakes operations — and earning the relationships that make those operations move. That network, and that standard, come with every engagement. Clients feel the difference.
Who We Serve
West Ward Capital partners with small business owners, entrepreneurs, and nonprofits ready to pursue capital. We work with entities in need of a team that can build the case, craft the narrative, and close the gap between what they qualify for and what they actually receive.
Whether you're facing a grant deadline, preparing for a donor prospect, or sitting on a funding strategy that hasn't been activated yet—this is where momentum begins.
